With Ensemble Video, you can add easily add an Audio Description to your videos. You can upload an MP3 or M4A formatted audio file, or you can use the Ensemble Video speech-to-text audio description generator.

What is an Audio Description?

Audio Description involves the accessibility of the visual images of video or other visual mediums for people who are blind, have low vision, or who are otherwise visually impaired.  Audio Descriptions attempt to describe what the sighted person takes for granted -- those images that a person who is blind or visually impaired formerly could only experience through the whispered asides from a sighted companion.

Go to the Manage Content form of the Add/Edit wizard and click on the Audio Descriptions tab.

At the top of the form, you will see a link to any previously uploaded or generated audio description files. You can delete a file, download it, and you can also click Preview to view the video with the audio description.

In the Generate Audio Description interface, you will see a video player, a dropdown to select the “voice” that you want to use for speech-to-text synthesized audio descriptions, and a space to enter the text that will be converted to audio at specific time points in the video. You can play the video and click or type in the text area and the video will automatically stop. Just enter the text you want for audio description and hit Enter and the time point and text will be saved in a list below.
