The Player Settings window includes options for the integrated JW Player:

General Settings

  • RTMP Buffer Length: Raise the buffer length to reduce re-buffering during playback. Lower it to reduce the delay on live streams. Default value 3, range .01 – 10
  • About Text & About Link:  Custom text and URL used as the right-click menu inside the player.
  • Mute on Start: Playback will begin muted when this option is selected

A sample of the current player is shown in the Skin menu. Use the Prev and Next buttons to
toggle between and preview all available skins.
The Quality Selector in the player control bar allows a viewer to switch between different resolutions or encodings of a video.
Enabling the Display Media Title checkbox will add the content title in the player when the control bar is shown. This is a quick way to show the content title to a viewer without the need to switch to the About tab.

A custom logo can be added to JW Player without an additional license. If the Organization has a central website, add that URL to the Action Link field. A viewer will be taken to that website after clicking the logo. To hide the logo during playback, select the Auto Hide When Playing checkbox.

To never show a logo in the player, select Hide Logo.

To change the position of the logo over the player, use the Logo Position and Logo Edge Margin controls. Optional: Use a format like PNG that allows for transparency for a seamless/borderless logo like the JWPLAYER logo below.

If captions are not large enough, or they are difficult to read, their appearance can be customized for JW Player. High contrast is desired, such as bold dark text with a light outline or background, or white text with a dark background or strong shadow.
